Calla lilies are one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique form of the
flower, are originates from the southern parts of Africa, namely South Africa up to the country Malawi, which is positioned in alignment with the northern border of the African island Madagascar
The flower became even more popular with artists after Freud provided a
sexual interpretation of its form that added new levels of meaning to
depictions of it.
The calla lily also became a very popular motif for painters as the
form and colors were extremely appealing to the eye of the beholder.
It has often been used in many paintings, and is visible in many of Diego
Rivera works of art and Georgia O'Keeffe who depicted the flower so many times and in such provocative ways, that by the early 1930s she became known as the lady of the lilies.

I agree with you about the beauty of the calla lily, Madalena. Their simplicity makes them a joy to paint, and there is so much that can be done with the delicate shapes. In this one, I love the way the slightly darker shadow/outline around the flowers makes the flowers jump out.
