Just realized the Hockney work is called A Rake's Progress. I think he got the name from Hogarth's series of paintings of the same name - in both cases the images form a narrative... I would love to do something like this myself - have been looking at Dore's illustrations of the divine comedy and paradise lost. I think narrative in painting is brilliant - have never done it myself.

Absolutely fantastic, your sketches are so original and unique very interesting and absorbing, still brings to mind William Blake, also makes me think of Dante's divine comedy and John Milton's paradise lost - like you could illustrate some epic story like those. Also a little bit like David Hockney's early sketch work in A Pilgrim's Progress not in style but in originality.

James McCormack replied:

Stephen, you are very kind, I am very flattered to be compared to such illustrious artists. Thank you!
