It was thrilling to capture this image of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels as they jetted toward San Francisco Bay during Fleet Week, the afternoon sunlight glinting off the sleek aircraft which I thought added a very cool touch to their spectacularly close formation.

Here they are transitioning from four abreast into the Diamond Formation, which is seen in the second photo (inset) I took of them flying overhead.

The aircraft in this photo are the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet jets painted in blue and gold, the official colors of the U.S. Navy.

Each pilot who qualifies to be one of the Blue Angels must be a career-oriented, carrier-qualified, active-duty Navy or Marine Corps tactical jet pilot with a minimum of 1,250 flight hours, according to the official website of the Blue Angels.

The pilots' admirable work ethic and precision remind me of the wise maxim, "Perfect practice makes perfect."

I am reminded of how God rewards those who put their mind and all into doing things with excellence:: “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure people” (Proverbs 22:29, TLV).

The Blue Angels are the United States Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron featuring Navy and Marine Corps jet pilots. Celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2021, they have performed for nearly 500 million people worldwide since 1946. Approximately 11 million people view their spectacular performances each year. Additionally, each show season the Blue Angels visit more than 50,000 people during school and hospital visits.

San Francisco Fleet Week (SFFW) is an annual public event honoring the contributions of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. According to the official SFFW website, it is the largest and most significant event of its kind in the U.S. and features a unique training and education program bringing together civilian and military forces to develop and share best practices in humanitarian assistance.

My sincere hope is that this image will inspire both the viewer and the buyer of this artwork to pray for our military, particularly during the holidays when they will not be with their families while on duty.

May we honor, respect and support the brave men and women in uniform who have given much and risked their lives so that we may live in freedom.
