Vintage Sunflower with a heart-winged bumble bee in spatter paint.
My love for bumblebees came about as a child after one of my orthopedic surgeries. It isn't uncommon to experience some form of depression when faced with mobility limiting procedures, which did come about from time to time.
Many hospitals find art to be one method of restoring a child's spirit. On this particular occasion I wasn't interested in the least with creating anything due to the difficult and long procedure endured. The jovial woman conducting the art lesson approached me with the prospect of making a bee on a bee hive from a Legg's Egg (pantyhose container), yarn, and pipe cleaners. My answer was and emphatic NO! She gently explained the miracle of the bumble bee, how its body is far larger than its wings could carry, yet it miraculously flies. Who wouldn't want to make a representation of a miracle?
Often I'd reflected on the art piece after returning home, to contemplate the "miracle of the bumblebee" and thought, if this oddity could fly - anything is possible! Art has been a fantastic outlet for physical pain; it stirs the imagination, and has the capacity to bring joy into your heart and home.

Thank you! Funny happened.... during digital transformation of the photo, lost the bee's wings. Each time I tried they vanished, so I drew them on instead and liked this effect better.
