American Kestrel Hunting From the Highline Wire
The American Kestrel is the smallest of the North American Falcons being roughly the size of a Mourning Dove. It is one of the most colorful of all raptors and packs a predator’s fierce intensity into its small body. Kestrels perch on wires or poles, or hover facing into the wind, while hunting for insects and other small prey in open territory. I spotted this one on the highline wire while it hunted over farmland. The overcast day creates the white background giving this a feel of simplicity or minimalism.
