"Alligator Stealth" by Patti Deters and photographed in Florida Everglades National Park. This alligator (alligator mississippiensis) was moving / swimming so slowly there were absolutely no wake or water ripples! The weather was very calm this morning (no wind) and the entire pond was still. This reptile might just have been taking an early morning swim, or perhaps it was stalking and hunting something we could not see - we learned they don't generally eat anything larger in size than their own head, and usually just eat small fishes.
