In the Ohio woodlands behind our home, there is a lake, a couple small ponds, streams, and wetlands. We can cross over a bridge and climb 47 steps to get to the top of a wooded hill on the other side of the lake. Next to those steep stairs rest several very large moss-covered boulders. They look like they have been there for a while.

I just love the pattern of the moss, and the texture! I always want to rub my hands over its softness, but I resist. I don't want to accidentally damage any of this beauty. So I was out taking pictures one day and on my descent when I thought I'd try to capture this with my camera. Unfortunately, right as I started, another hiker came along behind me. It is a narrow railed pathway and so there was no way to give this other person 6 feet distance and remain where I was. So I took two quick shots and hurried along. I am planning on going back of course, but for now, I like the colors and variety I found in this little piece on the rocks.
