Tennessee Farmland

Description
Farms that have been disappearing from the American landscape are still plentiful in Northeast Tennessee. The photograph above is a common sight while driving along country roads. Beef cattle farming is Tennessee's top agricultural commodity. The farming generates approximately 600 million dollars annually. With so much at stake the University of Tennessee has many programs that concentrate their studies on reproductive breeding, or how to develop the best forage for cattle and how to prevent nitrate toxicity on farms. Nitrate toxicity is a poison that affects ruminants or plant feeding animals and is just one of many concerns cattlemen have to deal with. Another worry would be drought. Lack of rain in the Mid East means higher prices for corn feed and drought conditions means lower hay production. Both are staples for feeding cattle. That could mean higher prices for your burgers and even dairy products. More of my photos from Tennessee and other locations can be viewed in my collections here in FAA.
