Description

The Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia has many fine old gravestones, but my personal favorite is the gravestone of Emmert Hamilton Jefferson, born 1907, died 1909.

I've tried a number of times to get this image, to get the lighting just right and finally managed to finally please myself with the result!

The loving angel monument marks the grave of black male, son of Emmett and Teresa Jefferson of Amherst County found in the book, Sinners, Lovers and Heros, by Richard Joseph Morris, 1997, incorrectly identified as being buried in Williamsburg.

There is just something about this peaceful old grave site that speaks to me.

I have taken my original photo and applied some painting and texture effects to the image.
