A modest snow fall had just blanketed the area northwest of Edmonton, in Jasper National Park. Another was on its way, so I was on my way out before I got snowed in. As I rounded a corner, this herd of elk were just 50 yards or less off the side of the road. There were nine or ten in the area and nearly all of them paired up to "rumble". I have at least one shot of two pairs locking horns, at once. (I don't know if it's worthy of posting.) They were indifferent to me or anyone else, so shooting couldn't have been easier. That said, I kept my distance and let my lens reach out, else I might end up locking horns, or worse!
