I am Parveen, a self-taught artist based in Delhi. My inclination towards art dates back to school days when I would fondly indulge myself in sketching and making caricatures. It was for my love for drawing and painting that I joined nursery teachers training course. Among other things, making colourful and tell-tale images for small kids was one of the primary requirements of the course. I realised the power of colours and brush strokes during that course. Colourful pictures are an easy way to explain various subjects to small kids and also to calm down agitated young minds.
However, making paintings for small kids is a big challenge as kids are not interested in abstract and complicated subjects. They like colourful nature and familiar objects more than anything else. This simple fact has been the main guiding force for me since then. Even today, I have followed this style in my paintings, which are simple, uncomplicated and talk directly to the viewers. I firmly believe that art should be a means of enjoyment for the viewers.
This belief amply reflects in my paintings which are a blend of real life experiences with imagination. I am very fortunate that my hubby and daughter constantly encourage and inspire me in making art work. They also dispel confusion and depression that occasionally confront me. Most of my paintings are simply done in realistic styles. Photography is another passion for me. I use photography skill applying it with artistic vision in capturing pictures in a thematic way.
On my paintings you will find my signature as Naina. In the world of art this is my nickname that I adopted from Nain Singh, the name of my beloved papa.
