Coneflowers
Black-Eyed Susan were the first flowers I started photographing in the later summer of 2019. They are the flowers that called me to return and explore for more beauties in the garden. The name black-eyed Susan is a referee flower’s signature dark brown center, hence the “black-eyed”. But who was Susan? The legend says that the name black-eyed Susan originated from an Old English Poem written by John Gay entitled ‘Sweet William’s Farewell To Black-Eyed Susan’. The poem was about how these wildflowers and the sweet William plant (Dianthus barbatus) bloom together beautifully.
