I thank you for visiting my photography website. My name is Felix Lai. I am a photographer based in Florida. My camera is my tool to express myself artistically. I have no formal training in photography and art but have a long history of art appreciation and art collection. I have been privileged to experience different art and cultures around the world as I have lived in four different countries in four continents. I love art and frequent art galleries and museums including many world famous museums
Many years ago one of the artists from whom I bought few of her paintings encouraged me to be my own artist. After a long self reflection, I came to realize that I do not have the patience to become either a painter or a sculptor, I believe a camera would enable me to interpret the world around me with my own artistic expression. In 2010, I bought myself an inexpensive DSLR for Christmas and embarked on my personal artistic journey. I came from a background different from many photographers. I have a Ph.D. and an Ivy League MBA degrees, and my personal art collection consists mainly of paintings (modern and old), sculptures and stained glasses with only one photograph in my collection! I believe my photographs would frustrate many well trained photographers with overblown skies, chromatic aberration, vignetting, distortion which I learned are 'forbidden' as a 'real' photographer. My primary goal in photography is to use the camera as a tool for my artistic expression. I believe my photography strikes a balance between good photography and art with art as the main focus. I do not regard myself as a fine art photographer as I have only limited knowledge of graphic software. If my photographs bring joy and wonder of the artistic beauty of the world around us to you, I have already accomplished my goal as a 'photographer'/'artist' I thank you again for visiting my photography website.
