I incorporate my farming heritage, my love for travel, and my fascination with nature into my pieces, pulling out details that I see with my filmmaker's eye.   Though I learned the technique of batik in school years ago, I picked it up again as a creative outlet during graduate school for filmmaking.   For me, the art of batik encompasses the boldness, serendipity, and individuality of my childhood memories growing up in Michigan, USA, as well as my experiences around the world.   For more information about my process or pieces, contact me at zonnebloem.batik@gmail.com .
