Description
Yasur volcano lights up the night with its strombolian eruptions. A strombolian eruption is defined as a type of volcanic eruption with relatively mild blasts. Strombolian eruptions consist of ejection of incandescent cinders, lapilli (rock fragments ejected from a volcano, from the latin word meaning 'small stones'), and lava bombs, to altitudes of tens to a few hundreds of feet. The eruptions are small to medium in volume, with sporadic violence. This type of eruption is named for the Italian volcano Stromboli.
On occasion Yasur throws out large ash clouds, as it evidenced by the immense ash plains that surround the volcano.
