Description
Jackie told us he remembered one summer it was so hot the tar melted on the roads. But Robbie said nothing could get that hot and I agreed with him. The three of us had a good laugh with that one. Oh it's not like we didn't have warm days or a fire to cook our meals and warm our bones 'cause we did. But never had gotten as hot as it got that summer when the whole island went up in flames. Looking back now I think we were one of the lucky ones ...
It started out like any other day ... cold and snowy but kinda nice for an early summer day. Actually one could see green poking through the light snow. We ate and then started out to the village. The three of us were hired by ol' Tommy Brown to clean out his stables. It was good work for around here and it kept the roof over our head. Tommy Brown was a good soul and was a fair man and we did him proud. But as fate or the spirits as some would say we never made it to the stables that day.
Robbie was first to notice something amiss. The snow was melting faster than it ever had before and the air smelled kinda funny like rotten eggs. Jackie just laughed and said he was imagining things. I noticed it too but kept my mouth shut. Suddenly we heard a great roaring sound and as we turned we saw the land and sky erupt into flame! Without thinking I took off running toward the river screaming at them to follow! I noticed the water was warmer than it's usual ice cold. The fire followed us down to the bank and jumped over us. It was a miracle we survived.
The island never recovered. Dead trees and charred fields to this day. Poor Tommy Brown and his family never made it to the river and neither did most folks. Those of us who did left the island and never came back. Well except Jackie, Robbie and me. We came back last summer and like I said there was nothing there to keep us ... funny thing though ... the land still smokes in places and the snow wasn't sticking ... Jackie and I think it's the spirits below the ground but Robbie doesn't want to talk about it ... we have no plans to return ... We got a good job working for Tommy's cousin Hank ... ya we clean his stable for him. Hank took us in after the fire. He's a good man and we do him proud.

Owlspook Dreaming replied:
thank you Paul (smile) ... This fractal was created using an IPad app called Frax ... if you have an ipad I suggest you get it and give it a go ... it's an easy app for beginners (smile)... now if you don't have an iPad I suggest a free program for windows called "Sterling2" you can find it here http://soler7.com/Fractals/Sterling2.html ... it was the one of the first fractal programs I used ... I just dinkered around with it until I figured it out (grin) ... there are other free programs to create fractals some easier than others (smile) ... I'm no expert on fractals but if you have any questions I'll help if I can (smile)
