I love wood. The colors, the grains, the lovely shapes one can make from wood are endlessly fascinating. My husband is also a wood fanatic. We both like to cook and we value good tools. This knife block occupies our kitchen counter and has good, sharp knives for cutting, slicing, deboning, all the things you need to prepare various foods.

I was inspired to do this and a couple of other pieces that celebrate some of our wooden kitchen accoutrements because of a photo I had taken of our lovely wooden salad bowls and used as a reference photo to do a watercolor pencil drawing.
