Winter Sunrise Deep Freeze
Chicago North Avenue Beach at 14 F degrees below zero. When a body of water is warmer than the air temperature, condensation rises and produces the misty results as in this photograph. This placid scene belies the treachery in the creation of the image. The distinction between the slippery ice edge and water can become dangerous when walking along the beach. Image was created with a Hasselblad 50mm lens and Tri-X B&W 6x6 film.
"Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice." Robert Frost.
