While The Dew Is Still On The Roses

Description
I took this photograph of a beautiful rose in the garden and added my textures. When working on this photo it reminded me of the beautful gospel song: "In the Garden"
"In the Garden"
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.
Refrain
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
Refrain
I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.
Refrain
Words: Charles Austin Miles (1912)
Scripture: John 20:15-16
"In the Garden" (sometimes rendered by its first line "I Come to the Garden Alone" is a gospel song written by American songwriter C. Austin Miles (1868–1946), a former pharmacist who served as editor and manager at Hall-Mack publishers for 37 years. According to Miles' great-granddaughter, the song was written "in a cold, dreary and leaky basement in Pitman, New Jersey that didn't even have a window in it let alone a view of a garden."[1] The song was first published in 1912 and popularized during the Billy Sunday evangelistic campaigns of the early twentieth century by two members of his staff, Homer Rodeheaver and Virginia Asher.

So delicate and beautiful! It was only last year when our choir sang "In The Garden". Now singing in Church is banned by the government indefinitely because of COVID-19. But the singing of hymns is an integral part of any worship service. It is not just for entertainment. I was very interested to read the history of the song and will certainly be bringing it to the attention of our choir director, as I don't think that she was aware of it.
Lucinda Walter replied:
Dear Kathryn, this song is so meaningful to me and I often find myself singing it to myself. We haven't been able to get to church yet because of Covid but are having streaming services. It is not the same as being there but for now it will have to do until we can all come together. Thanks much for your words. :)
