Original watercolor painting, 'Velvet Purple Coronet', by Lynn Cyrus / Cascade Colors. This small, beautiful hummingbird is native to parts of the tropical forests in northwestern Ecuador and Columbia. It has striking iridescent black, blue, and purple plumage, with small patches of vivid yellow-green and a hint of turquoise, depending on the light. I chose to add bright magenta and pink flowers in the background. This piece is perfect for any bird lover who has visited South America and perhaps seen this species, or for any lover of birds!
