Description
This is a photo! I took this with a modern digital camera, processed the image with a faded, warm tone. Then I applied an Oil Paint filter to it to get his look. I took this image on a 2018 late season trip to Port Clyde Maine. As we were waiting for the ferry to Monhegan Island to board, I noticed a group of dinghys by the dock. Like most New England harbors, there isn't enough room at the dock to tie up all the fishing boats. So they tie the big boats up out in the harbor on a mooring with a floating marker. They use these small boats to shuttle back and fourth. It took me a few minutes for the wind to arrange the boats the way I wanted, but after 3-4 minutes I got the look I was after. It was a cloudy, overcast day, as such I wanted to counteract the raw chill in the air with a warmer looking image. I can imagine this image in a seafood restaurant or a summer cottage. Even though I shot this in New England, this scene plays out in small harbors on both coasts.
