Description
This is a view of the town of Corniglia seen while hiking through the vineyards high above the Cinque Terre Italy coastline. Corniglia is the only one of the five Cinque Terre villages that is not directly on the shore. Instead, it sits on a rocky promontory about 100 m above the Mediterranean. If you want to visit the town after arriving by train, you can either take the easy way up via a bus that stops at the station, or you can take the zig-zagging pathway (visible just about in the center of the photo if you zoom in) from the train station up to the town. In 1997 the villages of Cinque Terre were designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
