Description
The viceroy butterfly mimics the monarch butterfly with its orange coloring, black veins and white spots on the borders of its wings. It can be distinguished, however, from the monarch by the horizontal black line across its wings. Viceroys are also smaller than monarchs. This viceroy butterfly on wild grass with a blue sky background was photographed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the summer.
