Winter can be just plain cruel at times here in Vermont and this winter around Burlington, Vermont and Lake Champlain was a tough one. The start of the winter was very warm with very little snow and getting out to do photography work was difficult due to the weather. On this day I wasn't going to go out but that little photographers voice in my head told me to go and I was rewarded with this scene! As I was shooting in the other direction I was keeping watch behind me and I noticed the sky starting to open up above this tree. The colors really started to pop and I was lucky to get several shots here before the color vanished in less than five minutes!
