This is my take on a well-known and photographed landmark, the Grand Canyon Desert View Watchtower, at the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim. Modeled after ancient ancestral Puebloans watchtowers found in the Four Corners region, the Watchtower, at Desert View, was designed by architect Mary Colter. The walls of the tower feature murals by Hopi artist Frank Kabotie and you can climb the stairs to the top for an outstanding view of the Canyon and the surrounding area. Although the Watchtower opened in 1933, it was built it to look old and fit right in with the surroundings. This photograph is a slightly different perspective of the structure.

Text, "Thanks for Being My Tower of Strength," has been added in this version created as a greeting card. This could be given on an anniversary or just to say how much you appreciate someone. My greeting cards are 5" x 7" (folded) and include white-envelopes for mailing and/or gift giving. Each card is printed on 100-pound paper stock with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. Inside has a matte white finish and can be customized with your personal message up to 500 characters.

I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida (recently relocated from Hendersonville, North Carolina), and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains.
