Description
Two stallions face off near the top of a high desert hill. More than half of the nation's wild horses and burros are in Nevada, nicknamed the Silver State. These two horses were photographed near Lockwood, east of Reno on a stormy afternoon in late winter.
Sometimes called "Mustangs" (although little of that original stock remains), these Living Legends move with the seasons within 83 Herd Management Areas on nearly 14.7 million acres of public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Wild horses are a thrill to observe and to photograph.

You captured it so well, that you can feel the intensity of it! Just love it!
Janis Knight replied:
thanks Christy. it's so dry in the hills now that the horses are gone from that area, but hopefully they'll be back in winter

Very dramatic and totally awesome. Really gorgeous, the horses reaction also give a feel to this image, of impending trouble! L
