Description
Earlier this year we visited the Menindee Lakes whilst we were at Broken Hill, NSW, Australia hoping to see some water in the lakes. But alas, all the lakes were dry due to previous droughts and water being farmed off further up north.
In the background of my image is the dry Menindee Lake in the distance.
Since then they have been severely flooded.
The Menindee Lakes are located in south-west New South Wales on the Darling River, about 200 km upstream of the Darling River's junction with the River Murray. The town of Menindee is close to the lakes and the nearest city is Broken Hill.
This short video link below may be of interest to those who are interested in the recent Darling River issues in New South Wales, Australia due to drought in the past few years. Brief but interesting.
- "A video explaining why WaterNSW is releasing water into Lake Menindee, one of the nine lakes that makes up the Menindee Lakes system."
