The Basin
Artist
Jeff Burton
Medium
Photograph - Original Photography
Description
Beneath a waterfall in the Pemigewasset River in Franconia, Hew Hampshire, is a granite pothole about 20 feet (6 m) across known simply as "The Basin". It was scrubbed out by stones dragged (and eventually deposited) by the retreating North American ice sheet, and since made smooth by 15 millennia of rapidly whirling pebbles and grit eroding the rock into a smooth, circular cave-like formation.
Jeff Burton is a Fine Art Photographer, who seeks to capture moments that instill a sense of calm and wonderment with the world around us. His photography style emphasizes the often-overlooked rich texture and tones of his subjects.
