Little Walden Nature Trail in Clemmons, North Carolina (NC), (near Winston-Salem) lies adjacent to a large park (Tanglewood), but has a separate entrance. It appears to be an old abandoned settlement, although I haven't been able to find any information about it. There are a number of old wooden cabins and this interesting stacked stone out building in the woods. My first visit was on a chilly winter day, but I imagine it will be quite lovely once spring comes.
