St Martins Cathedral Bratislava
Photograph - Photography Digital Art
Bratislava Cathedral has a history dating back to the early 14th Century and is one of the oldest churches in the city. The gothic St Martin's was consecrated in 1452 and has had various alterations and additions since then, including several differently styled towers, the current one at 85m dominates the skyline of the old town. There are fascinating architectural aspects both inside and out, underground crypts, gothic windows, huge ornate alters and of course, intricately detailed doors and doorways. Whilst taking in this romantic little corner of Bratislava, it crossed my mind that it was a perfect scene for a painting, this inspired me to go a little further than I normally do with my processing and give this image a more 'painterly' look and a little extra texture.
