Smokin' Toad

Description
"Ribbit, daddy-o". So says the Smokin' Toad. He's green and serene. If you know what I mean.
I'd like to direct a comment to a certain segment of the population now, and if that's not you, well, OK. Just skeedadle on over to the next picture that's just exploding in anticipation of entertaining you.
OK, now... it's just us here, right? Dig it. You know those folks who come over the house (and you might even love 'em, otherwise..it's OK) and constantly go on about "the smell of smoke!"--"don't you wortry about your health?" "you could save a lot of money by quitting..." --and then they sit outside or make you sit outside just 'cause of the ciggies?
Well.
What a better way to say-- without actually saying it-- how you feel by buying a nice print of the The Smokin' Toad? Display it prominently, and with pride. You'll get your message across...or, at least, you'll get a good shot in.

Too HILARIOUS and DELIGHTFUL and WONDERFUL and, and, and, D!! BRAVO for the art AND the attitude!! Hugs P.S. I smoked for 50+ years and LOVED it!! Then, one day, as I sat at a slot machine in October of 2015, I suddenly upped and DROPPED DEAD!! TRUE STORY!! Won't bore you with the aftermath except to say it was lengthy and painful and terrifying and exhilarating, etc, etc, and an extraordinary learning experience in a host of ways!! Especially in the "What's it all about, Alfie?" way, so-to-speak!! I was in hospital for a long, long time and so, had loads of time to think and ponder and wonder and remember, etc. I forgot to mention that I spent about 10 days in a coma during which the hospital staff stuck those nicotine patches on me!! How BRILLIANT was THAT??!! When I came out of my coma, I asked for my cigs but did NOT have that C-R-A-V-I-N-G for them!! I could NOT believe it!! It's been 18 months or so since I last had a smoke and, D, DON'T let anyone FOOL YA: there are still LOTS of times when I'd KILL for one!! The only difference now is that I will no longer DIE for one!!

You know, Nina-- they say it's not the ones you can see that finally get you, it's the one's you only hear. Ribbet! Thanks.

What a fantastic piece of artwork Olaf. Great use of colors - creates an impeccable balance. I particularly love how one of his eyes is squinting, I really feel like he is staring right at me, thinking whether he actually gives a 'damn' or is just enjoying his smoke and if he should ignore us. V/F
Del Gaizo replied:
Never trust a squinting toad, that's what I've always heard! Or was that " Never drive a blinking road" hmmm... I'll have to look into that. Thank you for the comment, v, and f! Much appreciated.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw when I was a kid. A cartoon of a frog who was a mobster. I really like the drawing. All the shapes and colors are perfect choices. The eyes are focusing on me, the viewer, in a gangster- like way, like he is interrogating me; they fit perfectly with the rest of the face. I never gave much thought to facial blemishes on frogs but these seem realistic, plausible. Same with the lips, they seem frog-like even though frogs don't really have lips. The lips might not seem right without the cigarette; unless they were smacking a fly or something. The cigarette really sticks out at the viewer too; almost 3-D.
Del Gaizo replied:
Thanks for the kind comment, Pete... ...HEY! Wait a minute!! You mean... FROGS don't have LIPS?? How do they kiss princesses, then? (Attention all readers: Yes, I know that last line is a classical 'set up' for a dirty joke. Please feel free to add your own punchlines in the space below.)
