Small Town Pizza Shop by Roberta Byram. Steubenville Ohio is a small town on the Ohio River across from Weirton WVA. It is not far from Pittsburgh Pa. A melting pot in its day, many Italains and Greeks settled in this steel mill town. Dicarlos Pizza Shop is an icon and the best pizza in the world.
It has been there since 1945 and was classified as a bakery as pizza shops had not yet been established. It is an icon in the area and after moving away from that small town...I crave this pizza! Every visit back to Steubenville, I eat this pizza at least 2 times a day!
The building sadly in need of a face lift finally got it a couple of years ago. This old architecture fascinates me with too many rounded arches and too many over sized lights!
