“ROSES ARE RED”
Original photography of a rose given to me by a dear heart, captured in memory here in my studio in Asheville, North Carolina- then turned to contemporary paintography art via the thread of interest that runs through what I paint on canvas, or on paper, or in a digital way. The visual story showing a multitude of “shades of red” emphasizes The Fraught Process of Selection we each face every day.
ROSES ARE RED is a celebration of linear and curving, organic shapes. It an abstract piece of digital paintography and a tribute to the beauty and complexity of the rose as a symbol of deep and abiding friendship and love- on so many levels. I was struck with the beauty of various the shades of red, and how the petals played off one another making visual music.
Life is beautiful and precious... like the ruby colors combined here with other shades of red. Here, the shades of red are Symbols of Belonging, for this experience of beautiful but temporary is common to all living creatures. You may get a sense of a merging of realities.
In this paintography piece, the juxtaposition of color with changing light symbolizes positive change through envisioning different perspectives. Each of the images in this series bases its tale on the concept of Change with Compassion.
