Title
Red Door And Old Lock
Artist
Ken Powers
Medium
Painting - Watercolor On Paper
Description
I liked the interaction between the lock, latch, and red door in this image. I had a slightly more difficult time drawing the lock and the eyelet it passes through to appear correctly in the composition but it worked out just fine. The work is painted with 18th century reproduction watercolor paint on Arches 140# paper.

Absolutely fabulous. I have done some work with pieces of antique wood, but no one seems too interested-----you've hit the right combo of the interesting mundane. Love it.
Ken Powers replied:
Thank you Diane! It was a lot of fun to try to create rust for this piece. It has been one of my more popular pieces in this series.

I am amazed at your wonderful attention to detail. This one is my favorite. First of all, I love the colors. You have really captured the likeness of an old lock with rust and all. It's great to preserve the uniqueness of antiques so we won't forget what they looked like. The antiques collectors ought to love this one. Thank you also for your kind comments you had for my painting. Wonderful job!
