Description
Fine art coastal landscape photograph capturing lichen patterns on a large block of sandstone that was quarried in the mid 1800s. This image was captured near the edge of a cliff on a coastal grasslands prairie, an ancient marine terrace at Salt Point State Park in Sonoma County, California. The prairie lies west of the San Andreas Fault. Sandstone from Salt Point was used to construct San Francisco's streets and buildings over 150 years ago. Drill holes seen along the edges of this triangular boulder were used to separate the large rocks into smaller slabs. This beautiful stone seems to be at home among the windswept, wild grasses.Fine art prints available for sale. ŠKathleen Bishop 2014.
