Description
This for me is a sad image, Portreath without it's monkey hut.
Portreath is a small resort with a very narrow harbour located about 5 miles north of Redruth on the north coast of Cornwall. It was once a busy port, importing coal and exporting copper but now only sheltering the occasional fishing boat.
The 18th-century pier at Portreath is now minus its 'monkey house' - a small stone hut - which was washed away by the massive Atlantic breakers in the storm of January 2014. The sea wall sheltering the double harbour is having to be reconstructed.

So sad to hear about the monkey house, I can only imagine how wild those seas can get

outstanding photo...love the details of the lighthouse and the little house on the side.

A beautiful image - such a shame that part of it's charm has been washed away.
Borlänge - Sweden
A beautiful image that looks so calm and peaceful! It's hard to imagine how violent those storms were!

Fascinating capture and recording of mother nature's strength. Thank you for the informative description. It is a shame it's disappearing into the ocean.
