Portrait Of An Unknown Man - Lotto
Artist
Robert Yaeger
Medium
Drawing - Ballpoint Pen On Paper
Description
Day 73 of the 100 day 2021 art challenge.
My reference for this sketch was from a painting entitled, Portrait of an Unknown Man, by Lorenzo Lotto. This DRAWING/painting is my interpretation. For this piece, I wanted to simply sit down and concentrate on drawing. This is as good as I can draw.
Today I just felt like drawing. Actually trying to draw with focus and patience. Many times I let my abstract style take control when I am drawing, so for today's entry I decided that I was only going to use a ballpoint pen, no underlaying pencil sketch, and to be as patient as possible with my drawing. Doing this caused me to be really focused on the minute details of the face, many of which I sometimes skim over. Working with a ballpoint pen is pretty unforgiving and at times requires a feathery touch. Happy with this one!
Another fun day!
About 1 hour, 15 minutes of working with a ballpoint pen on watercolor paper. Your comments are welcome.

Well done, Robert! I can't help but wonder what the man is thinking??
Robert Yaeger replied:
Reminds me of Paul Rudd's line in the movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, "There's sadness behind those eyes", which he said to everyone who approached him. Thanks very much, Donna!
