One of my favorite subjects to paint...pears!!!
This pear series is created from leftover acrylic paint.
To me, the pear still life is a great study for light vs shadow, not only on the pear itself, but the background too. Also, you can paint a pear with so many different colors-hence a study of color usage.
Also, the technique…I have used a palette knife to create strong, dramatic bold impasto (or im”pear”sto, ha-ha) almost 3-dimensional art yet with a brush, I can create pears which are calm, almost impressionistic (or im”pear”ssionistic, ha-ha again) with soft edges. Which reminds me, one thing all my pear paintings have in common besides the fruit as the subject, the names of the artwork all have the word “PEAR”.
