Description
Closeup vertical photograph of vintage double doors in the center of Eagle Lake, Texas, a small rice-farming community southwest of Houston. We stopped for a train coming through but saw no activity and no people. Every door was locked.
These are raised-panel double doors whose glass has been made opaque by white paper on the interior. In the soft reflections, one can discern a column. The hardware appears original--most likely brass. The mail slot in the left door is missing its brass surround, but the slot itself serves as a reminder of a bygone era and simpler times. Peeling paint and curved moldings add to the vintage look. What was intended in its day to be simple, functional, and welcoming has, with the passage of time, become a frame-worthy object ideal for an office. I intend to order this beauty for my own office at home.
