Description
This years music festival held in and around the French Quarter was my first time there but already cant wait till next year. Music was held on various stages as well as street corners and featured 7 piece bands or quartets such as this one playing just off the curb. Music could still be heard coming out of the restaurants and gardens up and down the main avenue as well as the side streets. There were bands that were giving out dance lessons that soon had the audience swaying to the music. There were many single artists as well. One notable was the bag pipe player.
The aromas of great food were everywhere. The French Market was filled to capacity for those looking for gifts or souvenirs. Art galleries were open to browse as well as the many artists lining the outer walls of Jackson Square offering the products their talents had produced.
The event was free and for the size of the crowds it was very well organized and city officials from all departments as well as the organizers can be proud of their efforts. The only negative I can think of was the parking situation. The lot I would normally use was filled and so had to pay $25 for the day much higher than what I normally would pay but was worth it.
To sum it all up there was great music, great food and great people!
