Description
I joined the 7-day challenge starting August 21, 2021 and the theme for this challenge was “Black and White”. Here is my Day 2 – On a road trip years ago we drove on I-40 through Arizona and this is a far-away view of the Weaver’s Needle mountain. I think we were near Winslow and I captured this landscape with the desert in front. Processed in black and white for this challenge.
Weaver’s Needle is a remnant of erosion and weather of a volcanic area in the Superstitious Mountains of Arizona. It is the bulkhead of volcanic rock from three eruptions. It is a summit in Gila County. It is part of a group of pinnacles called The Needles and this peak was named after a mountain man named Pauline Weaver. Fun fact: the story goes that its shadow bears the location of a vein of gold and brought many gold hunters in search of finding that treasure.
