Incredibly coloured butterfly! Perfect clarity in your shot, too! The butterflies around where I live are very pedestrian creatures, I've decided :)

Carol Senske replied:

I bet you have some stunning butterflies and moths - don't forget the moths - they can be gorgeous:>). Now I'm curious. I must try to remember to look up Aussie butterflies:>)

Carol Senske replied:

I bet you have some. They are out very early in the year and look brown. They choose a sunny leaf or rock and sit.

Round Rock, TX - United States

Haven't the pleasure of seeing one of these! Your image is stunning!!!

Carol Senske replied:

Hi, Roy:>) You should have them in Texas so keep an eye out. It's exciting to have them around, especially since they are not as likely to fly away as other butterflies, and you might even get buzzed by a territorial male. They are the state insect of Montana, just some trivia. Thank you for taking a minute ot come by and comment, and thanks so much for the V/F!!

South Lake Tahoe, CA - United States

Thats a gorgeous Butterfly Carol ! I lovethe colors on this one love the yellow and blue but the browns look like a red ! I like the little yellow pieces of straw grass laying all around it Too !!! Great Work You And Doris have a great photo of a M Cloak !!! F/V

Carol Senske replied:

Thanks, Kathy! High praise coming from you:>). They really are a deep, deep red brown. Sometimes the border is more creamy colored than this phase with the yellow - we have both at different times of the year. Thanks so much for the lovely comment, fave, and vote!

Montreal, QC - Canada

What a beauty this one is! Great capture Carol. I had a Mourning Cloak land on my shoulder this week-end. What a thrill! F/V

Carol Senske replied:

They are amazingly feisty compared to most butterflies that don't want you near. I think it's that territorial nature- LOL. Thank you for the V/F, Doris.
