Morning Glorious

Description
I raised this little guy from seed. One day I found him wrapped around the gate of my patio in the most glorious azure blue. It was a surprise because the seeds, which were a gift from a former co-worker, were kind of pot luck; however I did know that the morning glory flowers would be either blue or purple. I worked this piece from a photo I took of a flower I was lucky enough to see by chance - because I was working at a regular job at the time I NEVER got to see my morning glories blooming, and by the time the weekend rolled around my body was eager to get back to its night owl tendencies. Long story short, I lucked out and finally got to see a bloom. I don't plant the seeds anymore - I think in future I will invest in moonflowers instead. This piece was done on Strathmore watercolor paper, which will explain the textured surface. I used CrayPas Expressionist oil pastels and managed to complete this using only seven colors. The real flower didn't have so much pink throughout - I felt a need to push the rose color for unity's sake. That's why they call it art, folks. Thanks for reading the story and for stopping by.
