Description
FEATURED ON THE HOMEPAGE OF FINE ART AMERICA
Illustrating the ancient adage, “Mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow,” this sturdy old oak tree, one of the largest in the state, stands strong and firm on a Texas ranch not far from Houston, surrounded by rolling hills of grass. Beyond the dark wood fence more oak trees are seen, and a prominent stand of tall pines through which the late afternoon sun shines brightly.
This black-and-white version of a color image in this gallery includes a small pond adjacent to the huge oak, whose age is not known. Some oaks have been alive for a thousand years. Leading lines take the viewer through this peaceful scene of pastures, wooden fences, and the play of light and shadow. The sky appears white; no people. In addition to the color version, this BW image is also available with text, Illustrating the ancient adage, “Mighty oaks from tiny acorns grow.” You will find all three versions in this gallery.

Big thanks, Frank Casella, for the exceptional feature on the homepage of Compact Digital Camera Photographers!
Pasadena, CA - United States
In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
Connie Fox replied:
What a lovely compliment, Calvin. I really appreciate the feature and am happy to find a place for my work in this group.
