From part seven of my story of the same name:
He remembers the medic ordering him to walk to the gurney since our apartment is too narrow to get to him, and he is a large man. He thought the medic was a soldier. I came to the forefront of his mind to try and tell the medic to bind him since I could feel that a darker force was close to responding to his fear. We could hear, and feel him in his bindings and feel each strike of the reed by an unknown man speaking an unknown language, but all The Child’s body could speak was his name rank and serial number. We arrived sometime later at the hospital, and they helped him into a wheel chair and told our wife that because of COVID she would have to wait outside. We were pushed into the main room and ignored for so long that his mind returned to him, and he went outside in the wheelchair and found his wife and brought her in with him.
