Description
Marbled Godwit (Limosa fedoa), Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, Huntington Beach, California
Marbled Godwit is a large migratory shorebird in the family Scolopacidae. On average, it is the largest of the four species of godwit. Its cousin Bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica) has been in the news lately (November 2022). A juvenile tagged Bar-tailed Godwit recently migrated non-stop from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia. That is a distance of 8425 miles in 11 days!
