Description
The Manteo Marsh Light House is located on Roanoke Island. This small lighthouse was built in 1877 and operated until 1955 when it was decommissioned. It fell into disrepair and its metal screw piling was no longer stable. In 2004 it was repaired and put on new pilings and opened to the public, a deck was built out to it so you could climb it's short spiral stair case. I took this shot close to Christmas so it is decorated in pine branches.
