Description
Photographed near Cregneash, in the Isle of Man in the UK. Was on a walkabout and came across this majestic beastie - he’s a Manx Loaghtan sheep which are one of the oldest and most striking breeds of sheep in the UK. They are a hardy mountain sheep, with impressive horns and a dark brown fleece. Four horned rams are particularly striking. The breed has been around unchanged since the Iron Age. Traditionally the Manx was thought to have been introduced into the UK by the Vikings, but bone records from archaeological sites indicate the Manx was probably already here and probably pre-dates Viking invasions.
Shot with a Nikon D7100 with 18-300 Nikkor lens.

Handsome beastie! l.f
Paul Davenport replied:
Beautiful multi hued fleeces they have! they generally are quite friendly... I mean, you can walk up to them and they will happily let you stroke them... but you wouldn't want to set a dog on them... you'd both be in a lot of trouble (quite right too) :-)
