Description
I'm happy to announce that I've released my 2015 Night Photography Training Calendar and you're invited to attend one of the awesome events - in either Arches & Canyonlands National Parks in Utah or Teton National Park in Wyoming.
And to make the very most of these opportunities to learn, I'm excited to announce that I've teamed up with pro photographer, Darren White - giving an even more diverse background to draw from. Between the patient instructors, the great locations, and hand-picked timing, and the great course content, you're sure to come away from these events with a lot of inspiration and a plethora of new techniques to try on your own.
Don't miss your chance to learn all you can about shooting Milky Way Stars! See more details on the events at http://www.coloradocaptures.com/night-photography-training.
How I Got The Shot
This image was captured from Mesa Arch during one of my Night Photography Workshops and includes student Cindy Beckett getting ready to capture the scene. With recent rains in the area and plans to head into Canyonlands, we made sure to keep our eyes open to make the most of the puddles.
And while we had some specific plans for Mesa Arch, the big puddles in the area seemed to demand some attention. So after setting up my gear, I made sure I had a level platform with my leveling base before capturing the scene in 4 horizontal frames (using a lot of overlap). And while I like using PTGui as my most common panoramic stitcher of choice, I find that Microsoft ICE can sometimes do a better job of matching up the content when there's especially low light - as was the case with this non-light painted foreground.
This image shows a bit more of a behind-the-lens perspective that I thought other photographers would enjoy seeing.
