You are right there, Torfinn. It is all down to human greed and the lust for power. Truly the love of money is the root of all evil! As we are at the top of the food chain, not many animals prey on us, but when you consider how many people have lost their lives due to wars and man made disasters such as famines, then, yes, mankind is the most destructive species on the planet.

So it is Kathryn ;-)

South Shields, Ty - United Kingdom

Beautiful! In the beginning God commanded Adam and Eve to multiply and replenish the earth. Unfortunately mankind has done the former, but often failed to do the latter. What is taken out of the earth should be for necessary purposes, not just to satisfy whims, The fashion industry is particularly remiss in the amount of the earth's resources that are wasted on clothing that people do not need and which they never wear out, The food industry is nearly as bad, as they package food in such a way that it is often wasted, About a third of all the food bought in the UK ends up in the dustbin, It is ridiculous now that family sizes are smaller and many people live on their own that manufacturers are producing super sized boxes of breakfast cereal, for instance. And some of the packaging is so wasteful of materials. All they want to do is make a profit. Then so much agricultural land is wasted instead of being used wisely. Oh, yes, and killing animals where there is no need is another major waste. The human body cannot process more than 100 g of protein maximum per day, so people who feel that they need three meat meals per day plus maybe a chicken sandwich or two in between are again wasting the earth's resources. Our planet is precious. It is the only one that we are going to get, so we, as the human race, had better start taking better care of it, as one day we will be called upon by God to give an account of our stewardship.

WOW! So true and a wonderful comment that should make most people's minds spin. Unfortunately, it is probably before that most of the opposite happens. All for the sake of money, and some people's way of showing their desire for power. If you look a little simply at how the other animals and nature take care of themselves, man will probably find himself being the most destructive of the living beings that exist on earth.
